Sonamet

Overview

Sonamet is a joint venture between Sonangol, Subsea 7 and WAPO.
Created in 1998, and ideally located in Angola’s Lobito Bay, Sonamet has become one of the most important construction companies in the region.
Sonamet has three main business units, which are:

  • Fabrication in Lobito;
  • EPC/EPCI projects in Luanda and Lobito;
  • Survey and Positioning services in Malongo.

Sonamet employs over 2,000 people and the majority of its employees are Angolan. The company is recognised as a model of success for both local development and knowledge transfer in Angola.
Since the beginning, Sonamet has been committed to continuously improving the quality of the operations and products it provides for the oil and gas industry, focusing on completely fulfilling the safety and environmental requirements.
Its Quality management system was granted ISO 9001:2000 certification, in 2011.

Sonamet is actively involved in the growth of local communities and the sustainable development of the Benguela province, as the improvement of local content and the commitment to sustainability are key factors in Sonamet´s business philosophy.
